Days of my Summer Holiday-3

I have failed pharmacology!
For the first time in my life, I have failed a course!
I don’t regret it though. It was smart.1- I needed the whole world to see me in a way different from the-one-with-the-perfect-grades, simply because, it is no longer true! It was just hard to keep up with the studies. I get bored quickly. And God, drugs’ names are sooo hard to memorize:-/ 2- Failing the last, and most important course, and repeating it in summer did me GOOD this year. Everyone who failed knows the most important drugs that we need to know better than anyone else:D 3- I had to fail. My grades were sooooo bad that it would look so pathetic if I “just” passed! 4- I just had to fail. No explanation needed!
It's true my parents had a hard time absorbing it,especially my mom. I do feel bad for letting them down but at some point, it really had to happen!!

Well, I thought I’ll be having really interesting days in here to blog about, but oh God, Hypertension and Diabetes Clinic is SO BORING!!!! I know for sure I don’t wana end up in such a place!
And almost every other day is boring too:-/ I don’t wana sound lame, but there is hardly any patient here! And everyone likes it!! They are glad that they don’t have to work. They are all relaxed, sipping tea, and exchanging stories about their kids K I would have gone to another health center, a busier one, if I had known that I don’t need to be in the same center where I live.
On the brighter side, I have made friends there. And truthfully, ignoring the fact that I hardly learnt anything, I have enjoyed my stay there. People were really sweetJ

So am going to tell you about my first day of work at a nearby health centerJ. I planned to spend 2 weeks for a medical observation and my first day was just fabulous. I was placed at the general clinic for females. I got to see patients with Hashimoto thyroiditis, polycystic ovaries, serosal fibroids, herniated disks, and plenty of cases of amenorrhea, urinary tract infections, and arthralgia. To make it clear, they were only coming for check-ups since this is only a primary clinic. The names may sound fancy for some of you but these are not-so-fancy conditions :p However, for someone like me, who haven’t been exposed to all of these conditions at once, and to correlate the pathology of them with their microbiology, physiology, and pharmacology, this is pretty fascinatingJ. Moreover, it was interesting to have a look at the different x-ray films that do NOT look in anyway close to the ones we studied. They all looked kind of okay-okay-normal to me, not like the ones we get to see in books where the pathology is very clear most of the time. This is honestly scary:-S I thought I know how to read x-rays:-/ Anyway, the doctor was really sweet. She is Omani in her first year of work after her internship. She taught me how to examine little babies before taking their immunization shots and I DID examine 5 babies on my own ^_^. She also taught me how to draw blood for samples! And, of course, I DID draw blood on my own from two patients, haha :D I can say that the patients weren’t so thrilled to let me do it, but they were kind enough to not refuseJ. It’s not a hard job as long as the cubital vein is clear. Actually, it is very easy B-)
This is the first time where I am in a place with clinical setting, totally, on my own without college friends or classmates but I felt like home because they were all very sweet.
As I was saying on twitter, this place is really small!! The doctor’s aunt turned out to be married to a distant family member, her sister is a friend of my sister-in-law, the lab worker is a high school friend of mine, one of the nurses is my BFF’s cousin, and one patient was my sister’s high school chemistry teacher!! How cool is that B-)
I am looking forward for tomorrow, where I’ll be joining Dr. Tariq at the diabetes and hypertension clinic for malesJ. Right now, I need to read some lecture notes to refresh my holiday-frozen brain!

What Would I Give If It Was Me??

(Maybe he's right. Maybe there is something the matter with me.
I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.)
"Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs?
I've got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see them dancin'
Walking around on those - what do you call 'em?
Oh - feet!
Flippin' your fins, you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a - what's that word again?
Street
Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free - wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet'cha on land they understand
That they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women sick of swimmin'
Ready to stand
I'm ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions and get some answers
What's a fire and why does it - what's the word?
Burn?
When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love, love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world "
